The Warren County Learning Center welcomed their new school therapy dog, Samson, to the Saint Mary’s campus last Monday. Sam’s job is to snuggle students with depression or anxiety, help staff manage stress, play with students who have earned reward time with him, and to help teach people about therapy dogs. Samson certified through Alliance Therapy Dogs over the summer and continues to train and work with his partner, Mrs. Black. Many of the students relate to Sam, because Sam has scars and broken teeth that show that he has also experienced some trauma in his life before being adopted by his forever family. Sam loves snuggling staff and students all day, and hopes to be a positive influence over the students’ social-emotional growth.
